It’s no secret that Boofsville along with Doinksburg hasn’t been doing as well as the community as a whole expected. For the most part the overall perception was: Once db drops, boofsville will decline in popularity, db will peak somewhere in the hundreds for a few, and most likely lurk around in the 50s – 80s. But as most of you know, that perception did not come to reality. Everyone has been dropping their theories as to what they believe went wrong along with what the rapid decline may have been due to. Some of our favorite’s being:

THEORY #1

Boofsville, db, and Boofsville Distribution were sold to Skate Central, but without the care of dry, poolcreep, and the rest of the devs. Skate Central stopped caring for skatekit games as a whole causing every game under the boofsville distribution tree to die…

THEORY #2

P1tty sabotaged boofs and db by banning everyone to promote his new Skate Park clone…”Skate Spot” coming soon…🤫

THEORY #3

Krenzie sabotaged db through Replay Editor: Once replay came out, filming to masses got boring and played out do to the lack of realism, inspiration, and overall satisfaction of filming causing the mass production of roskate vids to decline.

Rumors and theories aside today we’re going to be talking about our interpretation and the possibilities as to what the rapid decline in popularity of boofsville and db is.

KRENZIE INTERVIEW

Thought I’d get the elephant out the way first. Obviously db lost a good portion of the newbies that would be filling the lobbies in correlation to the success of Board. But this does not mean that the developers nor players are at fault for this. To find out the back story as to what happened we’ve interviewed Krenzie the creator of Board to see what his opinion is on the entire thing.

Hey Krenzie, how are you doing today?

Good! How are you?

Pretty good, thanks for asking! We start off every interview the same though, how’d you get into roskating and what was your first big break in the roskate community?

Uhhh, I got into roskate from Ruben Sim and hmm…what is a big break…idk I made lil bubble chat thingy for boofs and got tc.

What inspired you to create board?

I’ve been makin lil alternate skateboards since like 2021 with roskate and board is just newest version. Using some fancy suspension crud instead of wheels.

Hell yeah fosho, what do you believe the reason for boards rapid blow up was?

Some guy called krookxl made a tiktok on board and it got hella popular like 400k views and from that it got like 200 concurrent. Then after like 4 days of that Roblox algorithm blew it up to like 1000. That’s pretty much it, its dyin now though cuz Americans back to school.

How has the rapid popularity of board effected you personally?
For example: has it been a bit overwhelming?

It’s been alright, there’s not much I can do about stuff that happens so I kinda just let it be. Fully at the whim of Roblox algorithm people been hatin but I stay up. 💯

How do you think board has affected sk2 games? (DB, Boofs, brooklyn, etc)

Honestly, I don’t think it’s affected sk2 games too much, peeps have a choice of what they wanna play and they just choose board and with it having a tutorial and stuff I think it’s just easier for people to start playing board than sk2 games.

The community has been saying that board pretty much killed boofs/db/sk2 games assuming that you believe this is false why do you believe that everyone is saying this? 🦨

It def has taken some players away from sk2 games but majority of players are peeps that dont even know what sk2 is, there’s people in the board discord that discovered boofs and db after board and they prefer it so idk.

Looking at boards skateshop (SkateBoardShop) there isn’t really too many roskate brands in the shop besides skaters nightmare and I believe nonsense. Is there a reason behind this and will we be seeing any core roskate brands in the shop/game in the future? 🤔

The skateshop was mainly a way for the devs to get some money too while the game wasn’t making much but since then ive been payin em.

That’s whats up fosho.

Word on the street is that board doesn’t import any irl skate brands into yalls games. Why is that?

Just dont wanna get in any trouble with copyright yk.

Ahh fosho fosho, damn I feel like irl skate brands wouldn’t copyright roblox games besides like nike sb or vans (if you consider those irl skate brands) but I feel where you’re coming from. On a more positive note though: With the success of board do you think that board could overtake other main stream “roskate” games? (example: vans world and skate park)

Honestly idk the 1000+ players was sorta just a blip but I think its established now at around 100-200 players.
